Light read, with generally likeable characters. Thought the end dragged quite a bit, however, and included a rather ham-handed introduction to the MCs for the next book in the series book 1 of the series. Overall it felt a little unpolished. **eta: I didn't read the first book in the series (I failed to notice that this was book 2 when I bought it.) I didn't feel lost by what was happening, just assumed all the extraneous characters with mysterious doings would be getting their own books eventually, natch. So, assuming that I sort of thought what I was reading was book 1 (I did), and even knowing now that it wasn't, I still feel the introduction of the characters from the first book wasn't well handled. My opinion on that would likely be different if I'd already known them, but I didn't, and it seemed so weird and out of place. Sorta like they were shoe-horned in.
