Utterly ridic, full of OTT prose (velvet and fire and velvety fire and fiery velvet...you get the idea). So of course I totally bought another book in the series. Why do I do this to myself? Sigh.On a serious note, I wish I'd been able to get the not-author-approved version. There appears to be approximately 40 pages more in the version I read--and I can only assume that those 40 pages were cut from the original for a reason. Good lord, but this book goes on and on and on. And on. It's a little (a LOT) much, and maybe a tighter tale would have garnered a higher star rating. I am not so dedicated a reader as to find an original copy & compare the two versions. I'd end up doing violence to some poor unsuspecting inanimate object.
